How to monitor your training program
For managers, ensuring that their employees are well trained on Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) is very important. However, training during an ERP implementation is an intricate task that is usually hard to quantify. Making sure that the employees are well trained is essential for the business, but it is quite a challenge to accomplish. The solution lies within using a methodology that will keep track of learner progress during a D365 implementation.
One of the problems that managers run into when it comes to getting their employees trained is making sure that employees have reviewed the relevant D365 materials. If there is not some sort of way for managers to monitor employee progress on their end, then you will ultimately run into the “audience inconsistency” dilemma in implementation meetings. This is where half of the employees have reviewed the materials and are up to speed, but the other half have not. The person running the meeting either caters to the people who did their work and leaves the people who are uninformed feeling lost, or she caters to the people who are uninformed by slowing down, which leaves the people who are up to speed being bored and disengaged.
If the manager can monitor employee progress, specifically by using an online training platform, this will allow her to prevent this dilemma from taking place by taking steps to correct the problem. With this new information about who has completed which training, the manager can develop a solution such as offering incentives or some other form of motivation for the employees. It boils down to this: if the manager doesn’t know that there is a problem, they cannot work to fix it.
Another problem that managers often run into is quantifying training. Training is hard to quantify without some sort of metric to measure it against. Ideally, the online platform that is being utilized as some sort of assessment section/ progress report where managers can not only judge employees by completion but also on overall accuracy and retention. This also goes to benefit employees, as they can be reassured that they are familiar with the content by taking assessments and getting feedback. This will eliminate the notorious, “My department doesn’t feel ready” that is so ambiguous and hard to fix.
Being a manager is tough but ensuring that your employees are trained well on D365, and ready to come to meetings and contribute to their full potential doesn’t have to be. An organization that is implementing D365 must find an online training platform or a methodology that can not only provide high-quality training but the ability for managers to monitor the progress of employees so that they can come up with solutions to problems that they find.
